Easiest & basic steps to have shiny bouncy frizz-free curls!

Hey lovelies,
I know curly hair is something we curse and love at the same time. We have both love and hate relationships with them. As pretty they look, as much care and time they require for the same. Being a curly head since childhood, I can understand all the pain we curly people face just to maintain them.
Today I am sharing my curly hair routine, or simply I would say my hair wash routine to have perfect curls. I don’t use much of the products as I am still testing and trying certain new products that would suit my hair type and also those that do not cause any damage. I won’t be telling you anything regarding products here, my main focus would be just to tell the process, maybe I will write another blog regarding products someday. Rest you can use whatever products suit your hair and you will definitely see the results. I assure you regarding it as I am doing this hair routine for quite a long time, after trying so many other methods.
So without blabbering more, Let’s begin with my hair care routine.
Oiling your Hair:
The very first step is to oil the hair before the hair wash. The best duration is to keep it overnight, i.e., you can oil a night before washing your hair. Also, you can apply oil 1–2 hours before washing. But sometimes we don’t have much time or we forget to oil our hair, for such instances you can oil your hair for just half-hour or 15 mins. It won’t be that beneficial, but it will protect your scalp from the harmful chemicals present in products that you’re about to use.
I prefer not to skip this process as oiling tends to protect my hair from the harsh chemicals, if any, present in the shampoo or conditioner. Also, oil is the best hydrating agent for the scalp. Most curly heads have dry scalp and hair, and shampoo tends to make them drier, which is not good. So, oiling before hair wash is a must, especially for curly heads. Well, this is something I have seen, whenever I follow this oiling routine, I see less hair fall in comparison to when I don’t follow this step. So, I would advise you all, even people with straight hair, to please oil your scalp before hair wash.
Steaming:
This process I do sometimes, not every time I wash my hair. Steaming has various benefits. It helps to open up pores, loosen up dirt, and also enhance oil absorption. Take a towel, soak it in hot water, and squeeze all the excess water. Then, wrap the towel around your hair and cover it with a shower cap. Leave it for 20–30 min. After that, remove the towel, you will feel such a lightweight on your head, as curly hair always seems so bulky on the head but after steaming it feels so relaxing as if someone has removed a heavy load from your head. This is my personal experience, I love it. The hair also feels soft and shiny. It is said, it also promotes hair growth, reduces hair breakage, and also keeps the curly hair healthy.
Shampoo:
After steaming, the main cleaning process begins. Curly heads are said to use products that are paraben-free, sulfate-free, and silicon-free. I have been using a particular shampoo for a quite long, it suits me well, it is paraben and silicon-free, but it does contain sulfate. I wouldn’t recommend it to you all. I am still on the search to find the best shampoo for my hair. I will let you know regarding it may be in another blog. So, Use whatever shampoo suits you.
Try to use as little shampoo as possible, according to your hair. I know we need to put more amount because of our hair type, but try to put as minimum as possible. I use a Hair scalp massager shampoo brush with a soft silicone brush for an in-depth cleansing of my scalp. Do not use warm/cold water while washing your hair. Try to use normal to lukewarm water.
Hair Mask:
Yes, I apply the hair mask always before the conditioner. I put the mask evenly throughout my hair except for the scalp area. During this time I usually detangle my hair with fingers. I begin the masking process initially by taking the fewer amount of hair masks on my hand. I take small sections of hair & apply the mask properly at every section. You need to detangle hair simultaneously, as curly heads cannot comb their dry hair. It’s painful & hair also becomes frizzy!
It takes quite a lot of time to apply the mask all over my hair since I have long hair. But take your time, Don’t rush! You will love the end results. It will all be worth it in the end. I keep the mask for 5–10 min & later wash it off.
Conditioning:
I apply my conditioner at the end! One of the reasons is it gives me better curls & the other reason is — It’s is so because my conditioner has dimethicone — a silicone/chemical barrier that has the nature to hold moisture & water. Typically, it is said curly heads products shouldn’t contain dimethicone. But I personally love this product. I used it at the end of hair care so that all the moisture remains intact in the hair & I can have frizz-free bouncy curls. Again I wouldn’t recommend this product. You do you! Although it suits my hair well. But in case your conditioner or any hair care product has dimethicone/humectant in it, Use it at the end of the hair care process. If you would use it in mid of hair care, the product used after it wouldn’t penetrate in the hair leaving frizzy & bad curls after wash.
I detangle my hair again while applying the conditioner. I apply it on sections of hair evenly all over as I applied in the case of the mask. Keep it for 5 min & wash it off.
Scrunching:
After completing my hair wash process, I take a cotton towel or a cotton t-shirt & scrunch my hair till there is no dripping water.
Scrunch, Scrunch & Scrunch!
Air- Dry Hair:
I usually air-dry my hair. I like them better when air-dried. You can use a hair drier as well but keep in mind to use a diffuser with it too. Else all your hard work till now will be in vain.
In the end, I always have bouncy frizz-free curls with massive volume. They don’t stay more than 3 days but I love them. I don’t need to use any gel or cream. Just clean hair without any excessive products, just beautiful curls. Takes less time & doesn’t harm my scalp as well.
Soon, I will write a blog on Haircare with creams & gel too. Yeah, “typical curly girl hair care routine”.
This was the simplest & easiest way to have the best curls possible. I hope this was helpful. If you want to know what products I use, I have mentioned them at the end. I ain’t recommending them to anyone. It’s just I am using it for the past so many years & they suit me perfectly. But their ingredients are not completely curly head-friendly! So use products that you love & you will see results for sure!
Thanks for reading till the end!
Tons of love & kisses!
See you all in the next blog!
