I found skincare as a most therapeutic thing to do when I don’t feel like myself!

I will be sharing with you a few tips and tricks for your face clean-up!

I don’t believe in beauty standards, but everything needs care! The face is the most sensitive and dirt-prone area in the body. It needs proper cleansing once a week or once a month at least!

All these steps are tested by me and did wonders to my skin. I do proper face clean-up twice a month to have shiny and smooth skin. My skin type is oily- or say combination during winters. Due to which I need to do an in-depth clean-up to avoid pimples, dirt, and clogged pores.

I would suggest you do this process only once or twice a month, as it is a long process and such an intense clean-up is not required every day or every week. Find the link for all the products mentioned at the end of the blog.

Let start with the cleanup process!

Step 1: Tie your hair up or put on a hairband, if you don’t want your hair to mess with the process!

Step 2: “Only if you have make-up on”Double cleansing is very essential in such a case, you might have heard of it earlier.

Take rose water or make-up remover or certain cleansing oil on a tissue or cotton pad to remove all the makeup prior to the face wash process. I prefer “Rosewater.”

Step 3: Wash your face with your favorite face wash for at least 5-10 min. Use a face wash brush with soft bristles for deep cleansing. Wipe your face with a soft cotton towel.

Step 4Steam time! Steam your face for 10 minutes to open your pores, and to soften and loosen the dirt, and blackheads accumulated on the face. This will help to ease the process of blackheads removal and help in deep cleansing. You can use a steamer, or you can boil water in a container and use its steam.

Step 5: Removal of blackheads/whiteheads by using either step:

  1. Using blackhead extractor tool: Take the blackhead removal tool and apply pressure to the clogged pores to pop the black or white head. I know it is a long and slow process, it requires lots and lots of patience. However, it is the best way that I have tested yet to remove blackheads.
  2. Charcoal nose strips: If not an extractor tool, you can use a Charcoal nose strip instead, to clean up your tiny nose. I found it useful too. Before applying the strip, it is necessary to wet your nose with water properly. This will help the strip to stick properly to your nose. Keep it for 10 min and peel it off slowly after the strip is stiff. It is a bit painful, but it ends up giving you soft and clean nose. Recommendations: Hip-hop skincare cleansing nose strips and Innisfree Jeju volcanic blackhead three-step program.

Step 6: Exfoliation: Scrub your face for 10-15 min. Use the scrub that suits your skin. Some of my faves: Lakme Blush & Glow face scrub, Biotique Bio papaya Revitalizing tan removal scrub, and Body Shop Seaweed face scrub. Exfoliation or scrubbing helps to remove the dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin. It helps to brighten up your face and improves the circulation of blood.

Step 7: After scrubbing, apply the face maskMultani mitti face mask is best for oily skin as it has oil-absorbing properties. It also helps to prevent acne and gives smooth and glowing skin. Dry skin people can also use it.

Take some amount of Multani mitti and pour rose water to it, mix and apply it all over your face [except lips and eyes area] and leave it for 10-15 min. Later, wash your face.

According to your skin type, other clay masks can also be used. One of my favorites is Innisfree super volcanic pore cleansing clay mask. This mask helps in cleansing pores and gives a cooling effect to your face.

Step 8: Sheet mask: this is not a necessary step. If you have a sheet mask, you can definitely use it. It is best for people with dry skin. The basic use of a sheet mask is to hydrate your face. I do not prefer to use a sheet mask during humid weather due to my oily skin type. But it is your call.

Step 9: Important step after the “clean up”! Moisturization!! Use a serum or your face cream or both. Apply it to your face and massage gently using your fingertips for 5 min. I use my favorites: serum “Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair” and cream “Ponds Superlight gel oil-free moisturizer”.

And there you are with the smooth supple and shiny skin.

I hope you like it and find it useful. Now you don’t need to go to the parlor for your daily clean-up as it can be done at home! Yeaahh!!!
